St David’s Hospice Care is our chosen Charity of the Year for 2015 for our dealerships on Newport Retail Park and we’re thrilled we were able to fundraise for them at our launch party for our two new brands Renault and Dacia.
The raffle raised £335. A fantastic amount thanks to everyone who bought a ticket. There were some great prizes up for grabs in the raffle including a Cardiff Devils signed ice hockey stick, Bristol Zoo family tickets, Only Men Aloud tickets, champagne, prosecco and even a toaster.
It was great to involve St David’s Hospice Care in our event and it was also a chance for Tania Ansell, Events Fundraiser for St David’s Hospice Care, to speak to attendees about its vital work.
St David’s Hospice Care has been providing community-based hospice care for people with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, and their families, since 1979. Its care is provided to people living within Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and within certain areas of South and Mid Powys.
Tania added: “We would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to Wessex Garages for hosting the raffle and inviting us along to the evening. It was fantastic to spread the word about our charity.
“The money Wessex Garages has raised will go towards providing specialist palliative care to more than 3,500 patients and families in the community. When a patient is under-going treatment or on a palliative care pathway, our aim is to ensure that they have optimum one to one care so that they can live their lives to the fullest. Wessex Garages’ continued support is greatly appreciated.”
On the night VIP attendees were entertained by Only Men Aloud and a magician, as well as enjoying a champagne reception and French-themed canapés at the new showroom on Newport Retail Park. Special guests also attended from Newport County AFC, Newport Gwent Dragons and the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team.
The new dealership stocks Renault and Dacia’s full range of cars from superminis, hatchbacks to urban crossovers as well as Renault’s electric vehicles, such as the Renault ZOE, Twizy and Kangoo Z.E. It also has a new electric charge point enhancing the M4 corridor for electric charging.
The new dealership is also able to offer vehicle maintenance thanks to an on-site workshop complete with ramps, offering class four and class seven MOTS and is an official wholesaler of Renault and Dacia parts.
