Steve Grinter, who works at our dealership on Hadfield Road in Cardiff, will be swinging his golf club tomorrow (Thursday, May 19, 2016) at Whitchurch Golf Club to raise money for George Thomas Hospice Care.
Steve explained: “I’m a very keen golfer and took part in the golf event last year and managed to take home the Aggregate Team Cup as our team scored the most points. Our aim is to defend our title this year while also raising funds for George Thomas Hospice Care, which is our dealership’s chosen Charity of the Year.
“I will be entering the competition as part of a team called the Caddyshacks and my fellow team members are Sean Davies, Director at Davies Motor Company, Mike Chick, Sales Manager at Pro-copy and Justin Belle, Director at Lonsdale Contracts.
“The event takes place at Whitchurch Golf Club, one of Cardiff’s finest courses. We will be playing for many prizes throughout the day.
“The Aggregate Team Cup and the Wessex Aggregate Individual Cup is awarded to the team and individual who scores the most points in George Thomas Hospice Care’s two golf days. The second being in October at the Vale National Golf Club.”
The charity golf day will start with a coffee and bacon roll at registration at 11.30am. There will be 21 teams on a shotgun start. All teams start at 1pm, but from different holes.
After the golf competition participants will return to the clubhouse for a hot two-course meal, a raffle and entertainment. The prize-giving will start at 6.15pm.
George Thomas Hospice Care was established in 1984 and has helped more than 24,000 patients and their families in Cardiff. It is committed to personal dignity, quality of life and the highest possible standards of care and service.
The services George Thomas Hospice Care provides are free of charge. It offers a number of services at its Hospice Centre based in Whitchurch Hospital Grounds, however much of its work takes place in its patients’ homes.
Nicky Piper MBE, Corporate Fundraising & Events Manager for George Thomas Hospice Care, said: “We are very much looking forward to our first golf day of the year. It is a great fundraiser for us and we would like to thank Steve and his team for signing up to take part. We wish them the best of luck in winning the Aggregate Team Cup for the second year but they will face some stiff competition.”
