We welcome Kia apprentice Robert to our Gloucester team

We would like to welcome Robert Lansley from Abbeymead to our workshop team at Kia Gloucester.
The 17-year-old has just started his Kia Light Vehicle Apprenticeship at our dealership on Mercia Road.
We think he is a very enthusiastic young man and will thoroughly thrive on our Kia Apprenticeship.
Over a three year period Robert will gain a national recognised qualification – IMI Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Competence, Level 2 and 3 Diploma in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Principles, gain a VRQ Level 3 award in refrigerant handling (F-Gas) and become ATA accredited in Light Vehicle service.
At Wessex Garages we are keen to give career opportunities to young and eager people. Apprenticeships are a great way for us to do this and we’re looking to take on more apprentices during the coming months within the Wessex group.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship as Light Vehicle Technician Robert will be responsible for carrying out services and repairs on light vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes.
Robert explained: “I always wanted a hands on, fully skilled job. We will always need cars and with Kia seems to be an exciting future, just look at how quickly Kia cars have grown over the last few years.
“The design, the product and commitment from Kia with such a long warranty tells me they are the future. I wanted in from the start and would like to thank Wessex Garages for providing me with such a wonderful opportunity.”
Kia Motors Corporation was founded in May 1944 and is Korea’s oldest manufacturer of motor vehicles. Today, Kia produces more than 1.4 million vehicles a year at 14 manufacturing and assembly operations in eight countries.
Brendan McGrath, Kia Motors UK Apprentice Technical Skills Trainer, said: “We’re delighted that Wessex Garages has taken on Robert as a Kia apprentice. Here at Kia Motors UK we are keen to help and develop apprentices within our franchised dealerships across the UK.”
